Dr. Clarice Risseeuw is a postdoctoral researcher within the Department of Sustainable Design Engineering at TU Delft and a biodesign engineer at Foamlab B.V.

Over the past several years, she has investigated structurally coloured Flavobacteria through her work within Caradt’s Biobased Art and Design research group and her doctoral research at TU Delft, where she obtained her PhD cum laude.

Fascinated by the microorganisms’ dynamic colourations, she explores the design potential of their vivid living colour within the context of interaction design. As part of the ChromoFlavo consortium, she continues this line of inquiry during her postdoctoral research, while at Foamlab B.V. she focuses on the development and scale-up of biofabricated materials using cellulose-producing bacteria.
